A lot of TV really needs to lighten up, and there’s no better way to do it than with a wacky intergalactic sidekick! Here are five shows that would greatly benefit from the addition of an out-of-this-world sidekick, plus the likely plotlines that would follow.

We list seven things Lucky 7 probably should have been about if it was going to escape early cancellation. And we base it solely on the show's mind-meltingly good key art.

I can't wait for MasterChef Junior, and neither can you!

And with the wave of a magic bean, season two of Once Upon a Time came to a close. Just like that. “That” being extraordinarily lamely.

Once Upon a Time

We’re hurtling towards something on Once Upon a Time. The end of season two? A summer without Storybrooke? A very long show-induced nap? Yes, all of these things. The show is coming to a close, so the natural thing to do is to kill off-ish the least cringe-worthy character of all – Baelfire. Or did they!? I guess we’ll just have to wait until next week to find out… Or next season, depending on how sadistic the writers are.

Regina’s gone full force evil, so we were treated to yet another circular story about why she hates Snow White. How many more of these can they fit in? There are only two episodes left. So… seven?

This week answered… a question… and raised a lot more, and did so in an incredibly clumsy way. Which is very disappointing considering that we were coming off of two smart(er than usual) episodes.

The main problem here is that although unusual connections are being established between the characters, they don’t resonate in an emotionally meaningful way because the show hasn’t laid the groundwork for them. Storybrooke and its fairy tale counterpart land were entirely contained worlds for most of these two seasons. So when strangers from the outside invade, there’s no precedent for what that means to these characters. They lived in complete Groundhog Day-style oblivion up until Emma’s arrival, and they’re still pretty oblivious. And instead of showing what this breach in isolationism means to these characters, it’s all tell, tell, tell about the stupid ways the few of them who weren’t in magic lockdown ran into each other over the years. Bah, humbug!

This week’s Once Upon a Time was fantastic. The writing, save for the typical tone-deaf lines, was tight, and the direction was noticeably good. And even the flashback was interesting, important and helped develop the characters. What the hell happened?!

Regina & Cora

This week, we got a glimpse into Cora’s past, and man, did she look a whole lot like Rose McGowan when she was younger. And, man, does Rose McGowan not look a whole lot like herself these days.

This week's Once Upon a Time was the best episode of the series. We got interesting back story on the best character on the show (Snow White! Wait, no. NO. Rumplestiltskin!), we met a horrifying creature whose face was stitched up by a graduate of the Dr. Whale school of cosmetic surgery. (She has EYES in her HANDS. And EYELASHES. Horrifying.) AND, Neal returned!
