"The only destiny we can control is the fate we choose for another.”
And we're back. How was everyone's Hamptons share this summer? Run into the Graysons? In case you missed them, they were back last night... well, almost all back (Don't read this unless you watched last night, or else you'll be spoiled).
Last you were graced with my presence, Victoria ran from Conrad on a government-chartered plane, and that plane exploded at the hands of the grey-haired man that killed Amanda Clark's dad, David. Amanda could have killed the man, but instead chose a different destiny for him. Fakamanda (Fake-Amanda - not to be confused with Takada - Amanda's sensei) is preggers with Jack's baby, and Charlotte is in rehab after a failed attempt at suicide, which she attempted after assuming her mother died in the fiery plane crash.
And now it's Memorial Day. Scene opens and we are under water. First, flash forward 3 months from now, and we see Jack's aptly named ship, "Amanda," has been sunk, and there is an unidentified body (it looked pale, had a wristwatch--Declan? Please?). Next, we are in Japan (which looked like North Carolina's cliffs...but I'll go with it, budget cuts...) and Amanda is undergoing some water-board, Japanese torture to conjure up memories of her mother.
Well, we know how this season is going to go - how we get to that underwater scene with a sunken ship will be revealed bit-by-bit each episode, and we are on the hunt for Amanda's mom. But the best, most anticipated moment was revealed last night - VICTORIA IS ALIVE AND WELL! Thank gawd. This show is Partners without her. And since the Queen lives, the sh*t is definitely hitting the fan this season. Cue angsty looks, passive aggressive one liners, and tight red dresses. Grades B-low.
Amanda C (The Real One)
- Welcome back! Gurl is on a mission--to find her mother and continue her plot for REVENGE. Don't let the Japanese stop you. This ain't WWII.
She's back for the season and ready to crack skulls, starting with the guy she let live last season. Looks like he's coming back to get her, after an order for her head was given by Victoria. He's the same guy who got rid of her mother (who's still alive, and who Amanda is hunting for). So maybe when he comes for her, the two can sit down over tea oceanside and talk things through:
- "Where's my mommy?"
- "I took her from that terribly staged insane asylum."
- "Would you like a crumpet?"
- "Yes, please."
Yeah, I don't picture it going down like that. You take a little from Amanda, and she will take more from you. Let's just wrap this up before Fakamanda gives birth; Amanda C's got some godmotherly responsibilities, k?
Did you speak this episode? I didn't notice. So here's his deal:
- Breaks up with Amanda because he learned she was kissing Jack Porter.
- Taking over the reigns at Grayson Global but still kinda despises his dad.
- Won't let Daddy have his trust fund money--pissing contest ensues.
- Is dating Ashley which is like screwing an English Muffin.
But now you're in hiding, and not at a Marriott (where no one would suspect you). Charlotte is the only one who knows the truth about your whereabouts (well, her, the grey-haired man, and the government - and now Amanda). The question becomes, what happens when Conrad finds out where you are? How's he going to try to kill you, again? Be careful where you step. Louboutins aren't landmine proof.
"Do you think Victoria could have had your mother declared cray cray?"
Sigh. I missed your one-liners all summer. And this season, you're buff! Loved the opening scene with your shirt off... my my--you've had the summer off to do some working out. Me likey. You are back by Amanda's side ready for another stretch of revenge. Whatever twists and turns come your way, you're ready to take them on with strength and wit. You walking through that hospital like you knew the set was a joke. The cobwebs, the light shining through the boards, and you found (on a clipboard, no less!) the evidence Amanda needed to know who had visited her mother just days before she disappeared. That, and seriously - there's now something called the 'Clam Cam.' Wow.
Declan Porter & Charlotte Grayson
- Jennifer Jason Leigh as Amanda's mom. Good casting.
- Amanda and Daniel not a couple anymore.
- Ditto for Declan and Charlotte.
- Thank you for shirtless scenes of Jack and Nolan.
- Victoria not being dead. Amen.
- No shirtless scenes of Daniel. WTF?
- Declan and Jack being involved.
- Fakamanda having a plotline. And seriously, how is she already 12 months pregnant?
- The terrible set dressing of the abandoned hospital. Any hospital abandoned would immediately be turned into luxury condos. Come now, it's 2012!
Relive this week's premiere the way the internet intended... through cats.
Nope, you got it right: new actor.
Thank GOD, Revenge is back. But was it just me or was Takeda played by a completely different actor? Shaving his head and leaving a petit tuft wouldn't have changed his entire face or would it? I'm confused or stupid.
First of all, I wanted Victoria to be alive, but the possibility of flashbacks was REAL. Don't front. Second, Nolan needs his own spin off. Third, I think Emily (Amanda) got a wardrobe upgrade this year. I like it. Lastly, I dislike this new guy coming to put Amanda back on track. Predictions on him?
